Dr. Susan N. Whitmore, DVM

Susan N. Whitmore

Dr. Whitmore moved to Colorado when she was 6 years old. “I may have been born in Ohio, but my heart belongs to Colorado.” After having received her BS and DVM from Colorado State University, she worked at several veterinary clinics and after-hours emergency hospitals and then started Companion Animal Clinic in 1981. Her awards include Phi Beta Kappa and 2001 Colorado Veterinarian of the Year. Dr. Whitmore is married to her best friend, Don, and has one daughter. Four-legged children include a fun-loving Miniature Schnauzer, named Stitch, plus a sweet grey DSH kitty, named Ginger. Dr. Whitmore’s hobbies are skiing, Zumba, singing 4-part a cappella harmony, dancing, plus any family activity.

Kristi , CVT (Certified Veterinary Technician)

Kristi was born in Denver, Colorado and attended Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology. She has one little Terrier mix, name Jazzy, whom she rescued and with the help of many people, including many of our wonderful clients and cardiologists, saved her life with heart surgery. At Companion Animal Clinic she has been Head Veterinary Technician for over 15 years. Kristi is a die-hard Bronco fan and enjoys watching pro football. Having recently moved to Divide, Colorado, Kristi loves the mountain life, but not the Winter driving.

Janet , Veterinary Assistant

Janet was born in Omaha, Nebraska and attended Pikes Peak Community College. She has been part of Companion Animal Clinic for more than 10 years. Janet started working in the front office, but transitioned to the back where she uses her talents as a Veterinary Assistant. Janet has three sweet rescue dogs, Minnie, Lando, and Abigail and three wonderful cats, Balian, Ty, and lastly, Tres, her three-legged kitty whom she adopted from the clinic. Janet is also a Certified Yoga Instructor “in her spare time”. Other hobbies include hiking, camping, snowboarding and watching college football, especially the NE Cornhuskers.

Sarah , Client Care Specialist

Sarah is our only Colorado Native and fairly new to Veterinary Medicine. She has enjoyed learning about animal behavior and medicine and loves helping our 4-legged family members and their families. Sarah has two wonderful boys, plus a large extended family. In her free time Sarah likes camping, fishing, four-wheeling, hiking, and anything else outdoors. Come let her infectious smile and laugh greet you.

Karen , Bookkeeper

Karen was born and raised in Minnesota where she attended the Medical Institute of Minnesota Veterinary Technician Program. Since 1988 she has worked at Companion Animal Clinic off and on while raising her two boys with her husband in Ellicott, Colorado. She has worked in the front office, in the back as a Certified Veterinary Technician, and as a Bookkeeper. The rest of her family consists of one happy Labrador, three sweet cats, two fun chickens and a turtle. Her hobbies include watching science fiction and reading novels.

Dublin , Purr-fect Ambassador

Dublin joined Companion Animal Clinic in 2012 as our four-legged feline ambassador. It was impossible for him to replace our previous ambassador, Miss Kitty, but he soon earned his own spot in our hearts and hopefully yours. He loves to greet both our feline and our canine patients and their families.
