Specialty Care at Companion Animal Clinic
Sometimes our pet patient’s require specialty care to meet all of their individual medical needs. At Companion Animal Clinic, your pet’s well-being is our top priority. Because of this, we will sometimes choose to refer you to a veterinary specialist who can meet your pet’s specific health needs.
For advanced medical care we may refer you to trusted veterinary specialists because of their area of expertise or speciality equipment. We have very high standards when it comes to our referrals, so you can rest assured that—with our help—your adored pet will be in great, caring hands.
Veterinary Eye Care
During your cat or dog’s wellness exam with us, we will thoroughly examine his or her eyes. We will look for signs of cataracts, glaucoma and retinal disease, and will screen for other eye abnormalities that may be present. In the case of more advanced or serious diseases of your animal companion's eyes, we will refer you to a veterinary ophthalmologist so they can begin treatment right away
In the meantime, there are several symptoms you can look for to detect eye issues early on:
- Excessive squinting
- Scratching or rubbing at the eyes
- Abnormal discharge or swelling around the eyes
If you notice any of the above symptoms, please contact us right away as these can be indicative of serious eye problems.
Animals, like humans, can be faced with multiple dermatological issues. Whether your pet has dandruff, dermatitis, eczema, inflammation, or another skin condition, it’s important that these ailments are quickly addressed.
We will check for skin abnormalities, discomfort, allergies, and parasites when you bring your pet into our facilities, and we ask that you keep an eye out for any symptoms as well. When necessary, we will refer you to a specialist, but overall our pharmacy will be fully stocked with medications to help treat minor skin conditions and parasites.
